Product Review Update - Analysis and Results of Major Algorithm Updates <p>I just posted my analysis and conclusions based on the December 2021 Product Ratings Update. Dec PRU is the second product rating update deployed by Google (after the initial deployment in April 2021). This is another massive update that will take three weeks to fully roll out. You can read my article for more information On April 8, 2021, Google announced a new algorithm update called Product Reviews Update. The update aims to reward in-depth reviews of more fine-grained review content (whether individual product reviews, groups of products, services, etc.).
I have thoroughly analyzed the updates since launch, including categories of impact on different segments, content affected, site-level results, user experience factors on affected sites, and more. From what I can see, the update looks like a basic update for some sites. For example, here are the visibility changes for some review-focused sites: Google's Danny Sullivan explained that updates can take up to Industry Email List two weeks to roll out fully, and I've definitely seen it in action. For example, I saw a lot of volatility early in the launch around 4/9, and then I saw volatility later in the launch (like 4/15 and 4/19).
I tweeted about the move using the screenshots I saw. This extra movement could be based on a two-week rollout, or it could be based on tremors - Google will adjust its algorithms over time based on what they see in the SERPs (which is certainly possible).
